If you have studied in Tamil medium, then hereafter there would be no need for the students to run pillar to post for the sake of proof regarding the medium of instruction for getting government jobs!!

The news that has come out now is that the Tamil Nadu government is having plans to print the medium of instruction of the students from classes 1 to 10 in the SSLC mark sheets. The aim was to make the medium of instruction in the high school prominent for those seeking state government jobs under the Tamil medium quota.

It is worthy to mention here that students who have completed their studies in Tamil medium from classes 1 up to the educational qualification required for the employment would be eligible for availing reservation under the TN appointment on priority basis in the services under the State of Persons studied in Tamil Medium Act.

According to a senior official belonging to the school education department, at present the class 10 board examination mark sheets carry only the tenth standard medium of instruction of the students. As a result, the job seekers have been finding it difficult to produce the proof of Tamil medium studies from class 1 due to various other formalities involved. For getting the proof of medium of study, many students who have studied in different schools face issues as they would have to go to each school.

Instructions were given to the management of schools regarding updating the medium of instruction of the students from classes 1 to 10 in the Education Management Information System or EMIS. This is a common online platform connecting government, schools, teachers and students.

The senior officer later threw light on how if the mark sheets of class 10 have the medium of instruction printed from class1 then there would not be any irregularities in producing the proof.

Point to be noted is that recruiting agencies like TNPSC would find it easy regarding proof with respect to the medium of instruction in a single certificate. Before the notification of the board examination schedule, updating the student’s medium of instruction would be completed.
