Downpour to continue! Red Alert issued to 5 districts!

A ‘Red Alert’ has been issued to 5 districts in the State of Tamil Nadu including Thirunelveli and Thoothukkudi today (Friday, 26th November) on the rain front.

The Northeast Monsoon Rainy Season has intensified in the State of Tamil Nadu. Further, with the prevailing cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere and the new low-pressure zone forming over the Bay of Bengal, there has been widespread continuous downpour throughout the State of Tamil Nadu since Thursday (25th November). The rain has continued today (Friday, 26th November) as well and is widespread in several districts.

Subsequently, a ’Red Alert’ has been issued as a warning for heavy rain in the districts of Thirunelveli, Thoothukkudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudhukkottai, and Nagappattinam. As such, a holiday has been declared today (Friday, 26th November) for the schools and colleges in these districts.

IN the above situation, due to the persistent heavy downpour throughout the State of Tamil Nadu over the last few days, a holiday has been declared today (Friday, 26th November)  for the schools and colleges in 29 districts including Madurai, Sivagangai, Kallakurichi, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvannamalai.

Further, with the persistent heavy downpour in the 18 districts of Thirunelveli, Thoothukkudi, Kanyakumari, Thenkasi, Chennai, Mayiladuthurai, Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Nagappattinam, Pudhukkottai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thiruvallur, and Trichy, the respective district collectors have declared for all the schools and colleges in their districts for today (Friday, 26th November).

A holiday for today has been declared for schools and colleges in Karaikkal as well!
