Chennai to Cuddalore belt rains to pickup with clouds waiting to move in, and as we go into night to morning the intensity will increase. Kanyakumari heavy rains will stop after an hour or so.

Summary

Historic Downpour in Tuty with a 300 mm event in Kayalpattinam. Rain continues down south in KK, Tuty and Nellai. Chennai and KTC most places have got 60 to 90 mm. With Chembarabakkam and Tambaram and Shollinganallur have almost hit century. Nagai has got close to double century. So many 100 mm across the state across many districts. 
Today to Tomorrow morning 

Heavy to Very heavy rain warning to Chennai to Nagai belt. Heavy rains possible in Delta to Ramanathapuram belt. So Cuddalore, Villupuram, Nagai, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Chenagalpet, Tvmalai eastern places, Kallakuruchi, Ariyalur, Karaikkal, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tuty, Sivagangai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and chennai all in firing zone with the areas close to coast from Chennai to Cuddalore will be very ideal locations for very heavy rains.


Chennai and KTC - As we go into the day the rains intensity increases

Today looks good for more spells than yesterday. Yesterday most places in Chennai ended with good 50-100 mm rainfall. When tomorrow reading comes most stations in Chennai will end above 100 mm rainfall. So heavy rains expected going today and day rains will also be good. 

Low or no low does not matter

The heavy rainfall threat for entire North TN to South TN coastal remains for next 3-4 days. Tuty and Nagai have to the taste of it already. Slowly the clouds convection will shift up to Chennai and Cuddalore belt. More action will be seen in North TN coast.


Kanyakumari heavy rains will stop by 10-11 am

Kanyakumari heavy rains will continue for 1-2 more hours and then gradually reduce.

Madurai and Vriudhunagar atlast joins party

Madurai and Virudhunagar the underperformer have atlast got good rains. Tamil Nadu will cross 600 mm for the NEM season by tomorrow after 2015. Chennai needs another 100+ mm for crossing 1000 mm for the month.
