Continuous power supply in TN - What is happening now regarding this?

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation or Tangedco and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation limited or Tantransco have jointly set up 20 new power substations across the state of Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 517.39 crores. The news that has come out now is that the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated these new power substations.

At the secretariat in Chennai, a virtual inauguration event took place and 40 power transformers were unveiled by the chief minister. These transformers have been set up at 39 electric substations at a total capacity of Rs 141.61 crores. By this, the capacity would be increased up to 712 MVA. This was mentioned in an official release.

It is now revealed that for the sake of disruption free power supply both Tangedco as well as Tantransco have been strengthening the power distribution network and upgrading of network due to increase in the demand for power supply. To reduce the line loss and maintenance cost of distribution network etc. various measures have been taken up and network has been upgraded to meet the peak power demand plus to provide quality power supply to the consumers in Tamil Nadu

The setting up of additional substations is very much the need of the hour for proper distribution of electricity in Tamil Nadu.

It was also mentioned by the release that as per the requirement new substations, capacity addition of substations and additional transformers would be set up at the existing substations by Tangedco as well as by Tamtransco.
