Indian Railway Board granted permission on 12th November to change all the special trains operated during the coronavirus pandemic first and second waves to revert as normal trains as per regular operations with the original numbers

Accordingly, in the Chennai Metro City Southern Railway Ticket Centre, the fares have been changed to the normal earlier fares without the special train additional charges and the Tatkal charges.

In a similar mode, all other Railway Zones have reduced the additional charges for the special trains and old fares have been restored.

As only normal charges were in operation for all the mail and express trains, there has been no action taken on the fares.

The restoration of the old train numbers was in progress in all the 5 Zonal offices of Indian Railway from 14th November to 21st November.

In the above situation, this task was completed 1-day ahead of the target date!

It is worth noting that within 6 days, all the Southern Railway trains have been restored to the old numbers!
