Chennai Metro City: Collection of penalties in a single day for NOT wearing a facial mask: Rs. 10 Lakhs!

A total collection of penalty payments of Rs. 10 Lakhs was collected in Chennai Metro City from the citizens NOT WEARING FACE MASKS! Further, cases were booked against 5040 citizens!
As the coronavirus pandemic situation has been prevailing from the year 2020, WEARING FACE MASKS HAS BEEN MADE MANDATORY THROUGHOUT THE WORLD!
During the 1st Wave of the coronavirus pandemic, it was announced that penalty payment and booking of cases will be done against the citizens violating this (wearing face masks)!
As it is being gathered that the 3rd coronavirus pandemic wave is imminent and onset any time, as astringent preventive action against the pandemic, the Police Department and Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials are jointly strictly 0monitoring the citizens on this front!
A penalty of Rs. 10.80 Lakhs was made as a penalty charged on 5040 citizens in Chennai Metro City.
Further, the penalty was collected from those NOT wearing faced masks and cases were booked.
It has been informed on behalf of the Police Department that ‘Face Masks Inspection’ will be done as a precautionary measure especially during this Deepavali festival when the citizens will do their shopping at the main shopping roads, Market areas, bus terminals, and Railway Stations.
It is further announced that legal action will be taken on those who venture out without wearing face masks!
