One of the busiest points in Chennai is C. P. Ramaswamy Road that connects places like Alwarpet, Raja Annamalai Puram and Abiramapuram. A tea stall and fast food stall here run by a 62 year old man is making sensational news now. Every day, around 12 noon, this Lakshmi Tea stall is full of customers. It is amazing to note that the public come and buy hot sambar rice or curd rice for just Rs 5 from this shop.

The owner of the tea stall and fast food stall nearby, Mr. Ganesan expressed his views. He spoke about how in 1996 he started this tea stall and how for the last 26 years he has been providing food for Rs 5. He revealed that he was inspired by an old man who provided food at a reasonable price for the poor. It is not only the sambar rice that is made here but there are also other types like lemon rice, tomato rice, tamarind rice etc available for just Rs 5 only. The main objective behind this low price was to make food affordable to everybody. The high quality of the food available plus cheap cost is superb and this has been the reason for many customers queuing at the shop.

Previously, food was provided on the plates for the customers but to avoid overcrowding food parcels are provided to the customers now. Mr. Ganesan finally spoke about how every day he would go back to his home with a feeling that he was able to serve the hungry. Superb!!
