Prospects for Elections of urban local administration Elections in December?

Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has initiated expediting all preparatory activities for conducting the urban local administration elections as per the expectations that it may be conducted in December.
In Tamil Nadu, the local administration elections in 9 districts were conducted on 6th & 9th October.
Subsequently, it is presently expected that the urban local administration elections may be conducted in December.
In this scenario, Tamil Nadu Elections Commission has expedited various activities related to organizing the urban local administration elections such as – redefining the wards, appointing election officials, deciding the locations of polling booths, preparation of Voter’s list, etc.
Tamil Nadu Election Commission has been getting ready to organise the urban local administration elections in over 600 wards at the end of December.
The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has planned to conduct the elections separately after the activities related to enhancing the quality of urban administration and redefining the areas/other aspects of the wards.
Information is also gathered that indirect elections are likely to be conducted for the selections for the posts of Mayor and Chairman.
In this regard, Madurai City urban Northern district DMK Secretary and the Tamil Nadu State Minister P. Murthy has informed that a detailed review/consultative meeting will be held by DMK personnel on 24th October in Madurai.
