The copious rains have resulted in the filling up of Chennai reservoirs now!!

It must be taken into note that Chennai reservoirs received over 1000 million cubic feet of water from Krishna water from Andhra Pradesh. The PWD or public works department has informed that water would be available for a year in Chennai. Sounds incredible right!!

The rains have been lashing Chennai for about a month and on Tuesday the Chennai citys reservoirs together had combined storage of 9.6TMCFT. It was brought to light by some PWD officials that at a supply of 1TMCFT per month the water in Chennai would last for atleast ten months of time.  At the same point of time in 2020 the combined water level of these reservoirs was just 5.1 TMCFT.

In 1996, Telugu Ganga Canal system was launched and since the launch it was in April 2020 that the Kandeluru reservoir in Nellore in AP attained a record storage of 52.94 TMCFT. This reservoir supplies drinking water to Chennai is known. Truth is that Chennai had received its full quota from Andhra Pradesh.

It was also mentioned by the officials belonging to TWAD that there would not be drinking water crisis for those living inside the city limits of Coimbatore and wayside village habitation
