The schools in Tamil Nadu haven’t yet resumed for the students belonging to the classes 1 to 8. It is said that the classes would resume from 1st of November. It is well known that schools for classes 9 to 12 have been going on well.

On Monday, school education minister Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi caught the attention of many when he launched ‘Illam Thedi Kalvi’ scheme for the students belonging to classes 1 to 8. The objective behind the launch was to reduce the learning gap of these school students.

Truth is that the volunteers would take classes for the students after the school hours near the houses of the students from 5pm to 7pm in the evening. Various districts where this new scheme would be implemented first would be Cuddalore, Erode, Dindigul, Kancheepuram, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, Nagapattinam, The Nilgiris, Thanjavur, Villupuram and Trichy. Later on, this scheme of ‘Illam Thedi Kalvi’ would be implemented in other districts also.

It must be noted that the announcement regarding this was made by the school education minister in the Assembly.

Those who are willing to volunteer can apply at
  • https://illamthedikalvi.tnschools.gov.in.

Important conditions are volunteers who want to teach students of classes 1 to 5 should have completed class 12 and those volunteers interested to teach students of classes 6 to 8 should be a graduate. There would also be awareness programmes conducted regarding this new scheme.

It must be taken into note that a logo design competition has been announced and the public could submit their works at illamthedikalvi@gmail.com on 24th October by 5pm.
