The important demand of the residents belonging to Arumbakkam!!

One important residential locality in Chennai is Arumbakkam and this place is making news now. It is known that this place is near to Koyambedu, Anna Nagar etc
The access to the Arumbakkam metro station has been difficult for those living beyond Arumbakkam as they have to walk long distances to reach the station.
It is now revealed that those residents living in Tamizhar Street, Loganathan Nagar, Padmanabha Nagr, Kamala Nagar want a pedestrian walkway to be constructed across Arumbakkam-Virugambakkam Canal for direct access to the metro station. Truth is that people who want to go to another city find it very tough when they want to reach Chennai Central through the metro.
Many people walk with their heavy bags for a long distance to reach the metro station. The people would get benefited if share autos ply from these areas to the metro station as they cannot afford for high auto fare plus metro ticket etc. This was according to a famous advocate residing in Padmanabha Nagar.
It is learnt that the Virugambakkam- Arumbakkam Canal is narrow in many parts and has insufficient carrying capacity. Hence, it would be difficult to build a pedestrian walkway. The PWD would have to carry the work of constructing pedestrian pathways across the canal and this was according to GCC. It was later mentioned by an officer belonging to WRD that just no objection certificate could be provided by them to the Highways department or local bodies to build bridges across waterways. He added that the bridges are built by WRD across structures having shutter arrangements.
