The parents of the students belonging to both nursery as well as primary schools might have to shell out more money as school fees!!

As the TN Private School Fees Determination Committee would be finalising the payment structure before the month of December, private schools in TN are likely to get approval to increase the fees by 10percent. The hike in the school fees would be for both nursery and primary schools. This was as per a senior official belonging to the school education department.

Across Tamil Nadu, more than 12000 private schools have been functioning from elementary to higher secondary school levels. He added that the committee has determined fee for a total of 8138 schools till February 2020.To avoid commercialisation of education, TN enacted the regulation of Collection of Fees Act 2009. It is learnt that all self financing institutions must submit their proposal before 30th September. Point to be noted is that private school fees would be increased by about 10percent only for those institutions that duly and officially apply for it.

As per another official belonging to the school education department it was clear that every school`s proposal would be scrutinised thoroughly before issuing permission.

The district education authorities would be responsible for physically checking all the information like infrastructure and other facilities etc. This was mentioned by the official.

The schools must not collect more fees than the prescribed amount and this would come into force once the fees get fixed. Those schools that violate the rule would be dealt with severely by the monitoring teams.
