4 more foot over bridges or FOB in Chennai to help the public

The traffic in Chennai is high in most localities!!
People find it tough to cross the road due to the fear of getting hit by the vehicles. The news now is that the state highways department has decided to construct 4 more FOB or foot over bridges with escalators for the safety of pedestrians.
It was mentioned by some officials belonging to the highways department that DPR or detailed project reports are under preparation for the construction of FOB near V.R. Mahal and Kendriya Vidyalaya at Tirumangalam on Jawaharlal Nehru Salai near DAV School and near Velammal School in Mogappair, a FOB connecting East and West Tambaram and near Chinnamalai A.G. Church on Anna Salai.
It is shocking to note that after the opening of a mall near K.V School in Thirumangalam many people jump the median at the road centre to cross the road. The construction of a foot over bridge near K.V. School would prevent people from jumping the median.
As per an official belonging to the state highways department, a FOB near DAV School and near Velammal School would be highly beneficial because the students would find it easy to cross the arterial road plus it would also help the residents living adjacent to the schools.
Initially, a pedestrian subway was planned to be built near A.G. Church at Chinnamalai by the highways department. It is now said that the FOB here could replace the proposal of a pedestrian subway. Point is that the contractors did not show any interest in the pedestrian subway construction project and due to this reason the subway proposal did not take off. The official belonging to the state highways department has mentioned that the construction of FOB with escalators would be much easier than the construction of a pedestrian subway. It is important to note that the construction of the subway requires shifting of utilities and that would be difficult.
