URGENT NEED!! COVID vaccination for pregnant women in TN

The second Coronavirus infection wave now is deadly and is creating more issues than the first wave especially for pregnant women and new mothers. The important piece of information is that pregnant mothers and new mothers have succumbed to this deadly second infection wave now in TN.
It has been revealed that the senior doctors are requesting the Union government to allow vaccinations for pregnant women on priority basis. In the last 2 months in TN, atleast 20 maternal deaths have taken place in TN. It must be noted that from March to December 2020, just 9 maternal deaths were reported in TN.
From 28% in April, the percentage of pregnant women succumbing to Covid-19 infection has risen to 31% on 30th May. It was mentioned by a senior doctor at a public health centre that women dying due to Covid-19 has increased now and pregnant women have more risk of dying as they visit the hospitals more frequently. In recent times in TN, 2 pregnant women have died due to Coronavirus infection.
Keeping baby shower functions etc in the third trimester have been responsible for the pregnant women getting affected by Coronavirus infection. This was according to Dr. T.S. Selvavinayagam, DPH.
