The second Coronavirus infection wave is creating more issues than the first wave. Every day, more cases get reported across India. The state of TN has been affected badly by this second wave is well known to us. In this situation, the UGC or University Grants Commission has given strict instructions to all higher educational institutions or HEI in TN to keep offline examination in abeyance.

The second Covid-19 wave is rattling and ensuring the safety and health for everyone is important. This was mentioned by UGC in the notice it had issued to all vice-chancellors of the universities and principals of the colleges in TN. It is known that the educational institutions have already taken the best possible safety measures.

The UGC pointed out that all HEI must keep offline exams in abeyance in the month of May to avoid physical gathering on the campuses and to provide the much required relief for students, staff etc.

After taking into consideration the local situation, HEI must decide about the online exams. To prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection, guidelines issued by the Centre and state government or UGC should be followed. Point is that the Coronavirus situation would be looked at by HEI in June and a suitable decision would be taken. The students, professors and faculties must not be called on the college campuses for any physical activity. This was according to a circular issued by the government of TN to all the HEIs.

Just minimum staffs must be present at the institutions and they must follow SOP laid out by the government. This was instructed by some authorities belonging to the Higher Education Department. It is now said that the online classes must be continued by HEIs on weekdays only. Online could be used not only for the virtual classes but also for conducting semester examinations.
