What is making the Chennai residents to worry more now??

Four days have gone now since the state and union governments have announced that vaccines would be given to the people in the age groups 18 to 44. In the capital Delhi, there were long queues to get vaccinated. It is now revealed that this has left many Chennaites to wonder about when their turn would come for vaccination. There is some confusion and worry now among some Chennai residents regarding whether they would get their second Covaxin dose or not.

It is true that on Tuesday many persons above the age of 45(eligible to get a second dose of vaccination) were disappointed that they could not get registered through the CoWin app.

A resident belonging to Chinmaya Nagar expressed her views. She spoke about how she tried to get registered for her second dose of Covishield on Tuesday. She took her first dose at a private hospital in Chennai but she wasn’t able to get registered for her second vaccine shot in the same hospital by using the app. Point is that she tried to get registered at a nearby PHC. Issue is that her PHC doesn’t appear in the CoWin app as it has vanished now.

It must be noted that in Velachery apartment complexes were covered in the initial drive and they have been told to wait due to non-availability of the second dose. It is important to note that many who had been given the first dose of Covaxin are now eligible for the second dose.

As the Covaxin was unavailable, the eligible beneficiaries were told that Covaxin would not be administered at Anandha Kalyanamandapam in Chromepet on 1st May 2021. Information is that the second dose of vaccination must be administered between 29 and 42 days. As the Covaxin is in shortage, the residents are apprehensive whether they would get their second dose of the vaccine.
