Vaccination festival commences today (14th April) in Tamil Nadu!

With the ‘Vaccination Festival’ set to commence today (Wednesday, 14th April) in Tamil Nadu, a target of 2 Lakhs Vaccinations per day have been set!
As emphasised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘Vaccination Festival’ is being celebrated in all states throughout the country. It had been announce3d earlier that the Vaccination Festival in Tamil Nadu would be celebrated from 14th April to 16th April. With the present trend of vaccination administered to 125000 citizens per day, the Department of Health of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to increase this to 2 Lakhs vaccinations per day!
Vaccination is being administered in 4328 centres including all the medical colleges, all government hospitals, all rural and urban primary Health Centres, 1900 ‘mini-clinics set up by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, and the private hospitals with government approval to administer vaccinations.
Out of these, Covishield vaccination is administered in 3797 Centres and Covaccine is being administered in 531 centres.
These centres have the capacity to administer 4 Lakhs vaccinations per day! However, presently, only 125000 citizens get administered with corona vaccination!
As such, no special vaccination centres have been set up for this vaccination festival!
The vaccination process, which commenced on 16thy January in 600 centres, has been increased gradually and now stands at 4328 centres!
So far, only 3944005 citizens have got vaccinated and this includes 689419 health staff, 1327811 senior citizens above 60 years of age, and 1265479 citizens in the age group 45-60.
The Tamil Nadu State Government Department of Health and the local administrations have also been trying to organise camps in companies/organisations with a large number of workers as well as the multi-storeyed apartment complexes.
The main objective of this ‘VACCINATION FESTIVAL’ is to ensure that the public aware of the coronavirus vaccination!
