Now, a sudden increase in the active COVID cases especially in Central core zones in Chennai, many worried

In Chennai, the number of active Covid-19 cases has shot up suddenly in certain core zones.

On Friday, the number of active cases went to 225 in the core city zones and it has become the subject of discussion for many now. It must be noted that on Friday morning there were 1802 active Covid-19 cases and this was as per the data from GCC. On 20th February there were 1623 active cases in Chennai city is well known. Core city zones like Kodambakkam, Teynampet and Anna Nagar had 222, 184 and180 active Coronavirus cases respectively.

The population density has been given as the main reason behind increase in the active cases. These zones belonging to the central region have got predominantly residential areas. In north Chennai, zones like Manali and Tiruvottriyur had the lowest number of active cases with 14 and 31 cases respectively.

In the initial stages of Coronavirus infection, the Tondiarpet zone had many active cases and it was considered a hotspot.  Now, this zone has less than got 1% of active cases of 68. It is worthy to note that none of the zones in north Chennai except Royapuram zone have   got more than 100 cases. More than 100 active cases were present in zones like Adyar, Perungudi and Valasaravakkam.
