Information about the metro rail line construction on Tambaram-Velachery route

The residents belonging to Tambaram have been demanding two important things now. They want the construction of a 15km metro railway line on the Tambaram-Velachery route plus they want Tambaram municipality to be upgraded into an independent corporation.
As per a local president belonging to Tambaram it was clear that this place has got a huge urban population that travels to so many parts of Chennai. He mentioned that the metro line project construction would be highly beneficial for many. Truth is that this project has been the proposal of Tambaram residents for several years and it was pointed out that the feasibility study has been going on. He wanted the project to take place concretely.
It must be recalled that recently the deputy CM of TN Mr. O. Paneerselvam announced that a Detailed Feasibility Study was underway for the proposed Tambaram- Velachery metro railway line.
It must be noted that the second demand was to upgrade Tambaram Municipality into a corporation of nearby areas including Chromepet. Point is that residents of Pallavaram have also demanded the same. It is known that the municipality is densely populated and many areas surrounding it are still under town panchayats.
It was later highlighted by a Chitlapakkam resident that upgrading Tambaram municipality into a corporation would improve the services of solid waste management or SWM plus, water supply, public health and underground sewage connection. He added that if Tambaram becomes a corporation then it would get funds directly for the water supply scheme. There would also be uniform improvement in the infrastructure in various localities.
