Teynampet, Adyar, Kodambakkam etc now witness surprising increase in the number of active COVID cases than last week

If you are of the view that the Covid-19 active cases have gone down and TPR is reducing in Chennai, then this piece of news would take you by surprise!!

In the last week, the TPR or test positivity rate was 1.45% in Chennai and now it has gone up to 1.75%. The number of active Covid-19 cases has gone up to 149 in the week in Chennai. This was shown by the date belonging to GCC.

From 1.2%- 1.3% just 2 weeks back, the TPR was at 1.45% in the last week and on Sunday, February 28th TPR rose to 1.75% in Chennai. It must be noted that TRP is a measure of the spread of infection.

The administrators in the cities have been advised by WHO and ICMR to ramp up the testing to a level where TPR remains below 5%. The shocking piece of information is that in Chennai TPR has been coming down and now TPR has started to increase. In the Royapuram zone in north Chennai, there has been an increase of 50 active Covid-19 cases from the last week. Zones like Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Adyar and Ambattur also witnessed hike in the active cases.

Reduction in the active cases has been witnessed in certain zones like Tiruvottriyur, Manali, Madhavaram, Alandur and Sholinganallur etc. Truth is that the thickly populated central regions of the zones from 6 to 10 witnesses jump in the active cases now. From last week of 69, the number of streets with active cases has increased to 98 now.
