State Minister for Higher Education regarding the opening of college for the first-year students

Colleges all over the country were closed in last March (2020) due to the coronavirus pandemic. They were partly reopened during December. The colleges reopened only for the final year students of graduate and postgraduate courses. Other students were recommended to attend online classes.

Meanwhile, admissions for the 1st year students were completed. As such, the 1st year students are yet to start attending their 1st year courses! Only online classes are being conducted.

In this scenario, the Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for Higher Education, K. P. Selvamani has informed that a decision regarding the reopening of colleges for the 1st year students will be announced in 2 days.

He explained that a decision will soon be taken fast on the reopening of Engineering colleges, Arts & Science Colleges, Polytechnics and other colleges and a review is being organised regarding allowing 30 students per class conducting classes in the forenoon and afternoon sessions.
