The 200feet wide radial road in Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam stretch is now making sensational news. The commutes here have been complaining about how the road has reduced and just half the space has been available. The area for the commuters has reduced to minimum because water and sewage tankers have been parked along the 10km road stretch between Pallavaram and Thoraipakkam.

To ensure all types of vehicles could be accommodated, the crucial road stretch was converted into a 6-lane road is well known The commuters were of the view that the purpose stands defeated. Unauthorised parking has been an issue at 2 of the 6 lanes and this was according to a resident of Pallavaram. He then threw light on how near the famous Kamakshi Hospital the scene is worse. Here, the traffic jams have become common as the road is used mostly by the IT employees. The lorry’s belonging to the local politicians get parked and they create many issues.

It was mentioned by a local commuter that this unauthorised parking issue has been raised with the CM cell and the complaint was forwarded to the police department. The issue is not yet over inspite of assurances from the police department.  It must be noted that the parked lorry occupied the first lane to the left on each side of the road. Point is that this was the lane dedicated to the two wheelers to segregate them from the fast moving bigger vehicles. The motorists are in huge danger as the space has been encroached by the lorries.
