The rebranding of Chennai corporation schools would be carried out. It is said that the civic body along with CSCL or Chennai Smart City Limited would be involved in transforming 28 schools on 18 campuses in Chennai under the first phase.

It must be noted that the name boards and the entrances would be redesigned so that the schools would be identified as Chennai schools instead of Corporation schools. There would be both technological as well as pedagogical improvements

As per an officer belonging to the school education department it was clear that the corporation schools would have the students and teachers with capacity to match the private schools. He added that these schools needed facelift and proper branding that would make the parents and students feel satisfied that they are in good hands.

For classes 1 to 12, there would be smart classrooms in these new Chennai Schools with digital instruction boards. These boards would serve as repositories carrying links and videos to various topics from reliable sources in TN. The official later threw light on how the Chennai Corporation has been trying to rebrand Corporation schools as Chennai Schools and how these schools continue to be identified as corporation schools. Name boards and entrances of the 28 corporation schools would be changed.

It was mentioned by an official belonging to Smart City that teachers belonging to all 281 schools would undergo training courses. After assessing the needs, capacity building would be carried out for the teachers.

Teaching maths using innovative methods:
The official later highlighted that the focus would be on improving English and teaching Mathematics using innovative methods. The sports infrastructure in these schools would also be improved. Truth is that these schools would have face recognition based attendance and WiFi enabled campuses.

Montessori education system would be established by the Chennai Corporation and it would be for the pre-primary education. The kinder garden teachers would be trained and classrooms would be equipped with teaching and learning aids. It must be taken into account that these changes were made for 45 schools initially but some schools have been left out in phase one as they needed major changes in the infrastructure. In the sanctioned amount of Rs 95.25 crores the changes would not be possible. It is worthy to note that out of total Rs 95.25 crores Centre had contributed 40% and TN had contributed 40% and the rest 20% by CSCL.

It is now brought out that the civic body has been looking out for partnerships with private organisations for sake of funding for remaining schools. Information is that facilities like smart classrooms, new toilets and sports arenas would be there in these new schools in the future.
