Makara Vilakku Pooja to be performed today at the Sabarimalai Lord Ayyappa Tempe!

The important event of ‘Makara Vilakku’ Pooja at the Lord Ayyappa Tempe is to be performed today (Thursday, 14th January).
The temple corridors of the Lord Sri Ayyappan Temple at Sabarimalai have already been opened for the occasion of the Makara Vilakku Pooja and special |Poojas are being performed every day. The crowning event of this festival occasion is the Makara Vilakku Pooja for which the Makara Vilakku or the divine lamp is brought from Pandalam .The box of jewels, ‘Thiru Aabarana Petti’, .will reach the Sannindhanam at 6.20 PM today (14th January).
Subsequently, the deity idol of Lord Sri Ayyappa will be adorned with the jewels brought from Pandanam and special Deeparadhanai will be performed. During this occasion, Lord Ayyappa Swmai will appear as a ‘Deepa Jyothi’ 3 times to the devotees.
As a preventive measure to check the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic, only 5000 devotees have been allowed this year.
To avoid excess crowd gathering and any possible stampede, heavy police protection has been arranged.
