Beginning from 7th December, more suburban trains in Chennai, public to get benefited

A superb piece of news for the residents of Chennai!!
From 7th of December 2020, the southern railways or SR would be increasing the number of suburban train services in Chennai. From Monday, the peak and non-peak hour time limits would be revised and now the proposal to increase the number of suburban trains from 244 to 320 has come in.
The Southern Railways in its release has stated that by revising the peak hour timings it would be allowing more women (who do not come under essential services category) to travel by trains.
It is important to mention that according to the latest guidelines women would be allowed to travel by suburban trains throughout the day except in the peak hours that are 7am to 9:30 am and from 4:30 pm t 7pm from Monday to Saturday.
It must be recalled that previously SR had fixed peak hours from 7am to 10am and from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The release from the SR also mentioned children aged up to 12 accompanying women in the non-peak hours of time. With its headquarters in Chennai, SR established in the year 1951 is now the 4th largest zone after the creation of new railway lines etc.
