Inclement Weather: Yellow Alert is given to the State of Tamil Nadu!

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has been issued Yellow Alert for the next 2 days!

Over the last few weeks, it has been raining in several districts of the State of Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, with the onset of the northeast monsoon seasonal rains, it rained quite heavily in several parts of the Chennai Metro City since yesterday (Wednesday, 28th |October) night. As there have been incessant rains right from the night up to early morning today (Thursday, 29th |October), most of the City roads have been flooded stagnant with rainwater.

This has caused heavy traffic congestion and the vehicle drivers have also been subjected to great hardship because of the road conditions! Maximum rainfall of20 cm has been recorded in Mylapore. Rainfall of 14.8 cm has been recorded in Palavakkam, 12.4 cm in Padi, and 11.2 cm in George Town. This has been the highest recorded rainfall after November 2017.

Subsequently, the staff of Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) are engaged in removing the stagnant rainwater in Egmore. In this scenario, the Chennai Regional Meteorological |Centre has come up with the information that due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the southwest Bay of Bengal, 2 days Yellow Alert has been issued to the State of |Tamil Nadu.

It is further informed that the rains will persist for 2 days-today (Thursday, 29th October) & tomorrow (Friday, 30th October) in the districts of the northern coastal areas.
