Scarfs distributed to the women shoppers at T. Nagar

Women shopping and chain snatching go hand in hand!!
In the past, in the busy T. Nagar, many women have lost their precious chains to the chain snatchers. To prevent this, the police have adopted a novel step and have distributed scarves to the female shoppers. These scarves would cover the neck of the women and would make it tough for the chain snatchers. This unique idea was given by DCP T. Nagar Mr. Hari Kiran Prasad.
He mentioned that the chain snatching events take place when the women move on the busy streets while looking at the displays in the shop windows. By using scarves, the chain snatching would be avoided as the scarves deny the offenders a chance to strike.
The police personnel check the body temperatures of the shoppers and then allow them inside the shops. They then hand over scarves free of cost and ask the women shoppers to wear them around their necks.
It has been brought out by Mr. M. Kalaiarasan, Mambalam inspector that every day around 500 pieces of scarves are being distributed and this idea has been appreciated by the shoppers. He added that the scarves have been distributed at the bus stands also.
