Number of containment streets has reduced in Chennai, no barricaded streets in many zones

Residents of Ambattur,Valasaravakkam, Madhavaram, TVK Nagar and Perungudi would feel delighted now!! The truth is that at present there are no barricaded streets in these places in Chennai.

The number of Coronavirus positive cases has gone down below 1000 in Chennai city and as a result of that the number of containment zones has also reduced.

In the first week of October, the number of containment zones in Chennai was 70 and it got reduced to 20 on Friday. Point is that there are now 18 streets that are barricaded as a part of Coronavirus preventive measures.

Currently zones like Royapuram and Manali have got the maximum number of barricaded streets and it is 5. They are followed by Tondiarpet and Teynampet zones with 2 barricaded streets each.

Important zones like Adyar, Anna Nagar, Kodambakkam and Sholinganallur have 1 barricaded street each. GCC has been taking many steps to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection and barricading the streets is one amongst them.
