New Procedure to book LPG cooking gas cylinders from 1st November!

Posted on: 16/Oct/2020 6:40:18 PM
Henceforth, the LPG cooking Gas cylinder cannot be procured without OTP (One-Time-Password).

It has been informed that for the household LPG cooking gas supply, the ordering systems are set to change from 1st November.

The Rules and Regulations for booking the LPG cooking gas cylinder are being revised.

The new system is set to function as per this.  The new system is being introduced to prevent stealing of LPG Cooking Gas Cylinders and also to identify the right customer.

The Oil Corporations have planned to link the new procedure/system of procurement to DAC – Distribution Approval Code. In this procedure, once the new cylinder is booked, a code (OTP) will appear on the mobile phone through which booking is being done. This OTP must be passed to the delivery person. Unless the right OTP is passed on, the booking will be kept as pending.

If the cell phone number is not registered with the local gas agency, or in case the mobile phone number is changed, you have to renew only through the distribution. An app for this facility will be given to the delivery boys. During the delivery, the new mobile number or the old can be registered with the delivery boy.  The new cell number will thus get registered. Further booking can be done through OTPS sent to this new number.

This above new system will be tried on a trial basis by the Oil Corporations in 100 smart cities in the 1st Phase. This can be termed as a ‘Pilot Project’! This new system will be subsequently gradually introduced in other parts of the country.

Presently, this is system has been introduced in 2 cities as a pilot project. This new system will be applicable only the domestic LPG cooking Gas Cylinders. The larger LPG Cooking Gas cylinders for commercial usage are being exempted from this!
