Alarming rise in the COVID cases in Chennai again

When compared to the TN state average, the Covid-19 cases are increasing at a high speed now in Chennai city. This is worrying many now.
In the last week, Chennai had as many as 9868 active Coronavirus cases. Currently, the number of active cases in Chennai stands at 11320, an alarming increase of 14.7 percent. Fact is in the same period, TN reported 0.2perdcent rise in the active cases. In the state of TN now there are 46263 persons under the treatment for this deadly viral infection.
It is worthy to note that the death tally has not increased and it has been hovering around 60 to 70 mark. As many as 9520 persons have succumbed to Covid-19 infection in TN till now and yesterday as many as 67 have died.
The positivity rate in Chennai is nearing 10% with 1295 fresh or new Coronavirus cases on Wednesday. As many as817 persons have tested Covid-19 positive in the neighbouring districts like Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Thiruvallur. High number of Coronavirus positive cases was reported from the western parts of TN. Coimbatore district had 574 cases and the local body has begun containment zones again.
Those streets with 3 or more Coronavirus cases would be sealed for 14 days and this was mentioned by Mr. Kumaravel Pandian, Coimbatore corporation commissioner.
The Covid-19 infection and deaths are on the rise in Salem district also and after Chennai this district has got the second highest number of active cases and it is 2794 now.
