Tami Nadu: Corona Statistics! COVID count crosses 5 lakh, toll touches 8381!

The State of Tamil Nadu crossed the 5 Lakhs coronavirus cases mark on Sunday evening, with 5,693 people testing positive for Covid-19.
The State Government Heath Department furnished the data that the State’s overall case tally stood at 502759. The State recorded the first case on 7 March, but August and September saw a rapid increase.
As many as 74 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Sunday, taking the toll to 8381. Recoveries continued to outnumber fresh infections as 5717 people walked out from various healthcare facilities, taking the total of those cured to 4.47 lakh.
The Chennai Metro City reported 994 fresh cases. As many as 1228 persons were discharged. The city reported 17 deaths, taking its toll to 2976. The total number of positive cases stands at 148584 in the city. While 135215 persons have been discharged, the city has 10,393 active cases.
As many as 84308 specimens were tested on Sunday, pushing the total number of samples tested so far to 58.88 lakh. Among the 74 who died of the virus Sunday, 66 had co-morbidities. As many as 43 deceased were between the age of 60 and 79, the bulletin added.
