Tamil Nadu CM: E-pass for all who apply!

Posted on: 14/Aug/2020 4:12:42 PM
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy, has announced that E-passes will be issued to all citizens who apply for the same for travel due to important works.

At the same time, the Chief Minister has earnestly appealed to the citizens that they must apply for E-pass only for genuine reasons.

In the Government Order released by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in this regard, it is mentioned:

“The State Government of Tamil Nadu has been earnestly indulged in various precautionary and safety activities to protect the public from the raging coronavirus pandemic while undertaking the provision of treatment for the virus and offer relief. The extent of the impact/spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic is being closely and continuously monitored and relaxations are being gradually announced after giving due consideration to the cooperation of the citizens and the status of the coronavirus impact.

As a measure towards checking the spread of the pandemic, E-pass is being issued only for those who need to travel due to marriage, medical treatment, death of a close relative, official work, or returning to the native place after the journey. With the e-pass system, it is able to monitor the people who move from one district to another and in case they are inf3ected, to track the persons they had been in contact with and isolating these contact persons as a measure to prevent the spread.

In this situation, in order to facilitate trouble-free travel of the citizens to travel from one district to another in the State of Tamil Nadu, I have ordered that e-pass be issued without any blocks and immediately from 17th August to all those who have applied with Aadhar or the Family Ration card details and the telephone/cell-phone numbers.

As this initiative has been taken with the objective of public welfare, here is an appeal to all concerned to avail this in a responsible manner avoiding unnecessary travel and to travel only under unavoidable circumstances, applying for e-pass for the same and receiving the same.

I earnestly appeal to the citizens to strictly adhere to the detailed guidelines already given to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and to extend wholehearted cooperation to the various initiatives undertaken by the state government.”
