Online engineering applications go above 1.5lakhs for the first time in TN

Students have been showing lots of interest to study engineering courses in Tamil Nadu and this has been brought out by the number of online engineering applications.
It is important to note that for the first time in TN the online registration of students seeking engineering admissions have crossed 1.5lakhs. This week, many more students aspiring to study engineering would be enrolling.
According to a senior official belonging to DOTE, as on Monday night the number of applications was at 148626.He added that another 2000 applications were received till Tuesday night. By this, the tally would be taken to more than 1.5lakhs.
There are about 500 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu and the colleges have 1.47 lakhs seats for the students. It was mentioned that as many as 118,704 students have paid their registration fees and about 80% of the students have uploaded their certificates. It is known fact that 16th August is the last day for registration and it is now said that another 10000 applications would be there.
On 7th September, the rank list of the students would be announced and on 17th September general counselling would begin. It must be noted that a single window admission system is used in Anna University for TNEA.
