Further, it was announced that 100% lockdown without any relaxations will be observed on all the Sundays during this month of August (9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th).

Still, the state government of Tamil Nadu has been consistently announcing some relaxations as a step to revive the economy. The private gyms in the state were allowed to open and function entertaining customers under the age of 50 years from 10th August.

In this status, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy has granted permission to open the driving schools throughout Tamil Nadu from 10th August.

Further, the Chief Minister has also permitted the opening of small religious/praying spots located in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

It has been mentioned that all small temples/praying centers with earnings of less than Rs. 1000 can be opened with the permission of the concerned district collector. It is also emphasized that permission MUST be obtained from the commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation in Chennai Metro City and the respective collectors in other districts.

It is worth mentioning at this juncture that the State Government of Tamil Nadu had already granted permission to open the prayer centers in rural areas.
