Semester exams for UG courses cancelled by the TN government

Internal examinations and project works as suggested by UGC and AICTE would form the criteria on which the UG students would be judged. 

There would not be semester examinations for the students of first and second year undergraduate courses of arts and science colleges belonging to the TN. His was announced by the chief minister of TN Mr. E. Palaniswami on Thursday.

The CM later spoke about how the semester exams were scheduled to be conducted in April month and how the exams were not conducted due to the threat of Coronavirus infection pandemic.

Information is the UG students of the first and second year UG courses in TN would be marked on the basis of University Grants Commission or UGC plus on the AICTE or All India Council for Technical Education guidelines. Recommendations from the high level committee formed by TN played an important part in the cancellation of the semester exams.

It is important to mention that arts and science stream semester exams stand cancelled for the first and second year UG students and for the first year PG students across all the colleges in TN. 

Exams have been called off for the engineering stream students also and no students of 1st and 3rd year in UC courses would be appearing for the intermediate semesters. It must be noted that the rule is only applicable for the first year PG students in the engineering colleges in TN.

In TN, for all the first and second year students, examinations have been called off for various polytechnic colleges. Even without appearing for the exams, these students would be considered as passed. For MCA degrees, the first and second year students need not appear for their exams. The student community have expressed their concern for appearing for their semester exams due to the Coronavirus pandemic is well known.
