Getting listed in the dashboard does not mean that the hospital would treat Coronavirus patients!!

Tamil Nadu dashboard has got as many as 208 hospitals listed but 60 of those hospitals do not have even a single Covid-19 patient. This has shown that the private hospitals located in the tier 2 and tier 3 cities in TN have been reluctant in admitting the Corona virus patients.

Places in TN like Kallakurichi, Namakkal, Dindigul and Thanjavur etc have got private hospitals and these hospitals refused to admit patients or were non-committal.

The reason said for not admitting Coronavirus patients in these private hospitals was due to the lack of facilities like isolation wards, separate entrance, lack of adequate doctors and staff. It is shocking to mention that some private hospitals do not have testing kits also.

It was revealed by a representative of Kallakurichi based Sree Sanjeevi Hospital that Coronavirus positive patients were referred to the government hospitals due to lack of facilities for isolation ward. In the same way, a representative belonging to Namakkal based Aravinth Hospital spoke about how they used to refer the patient to another facility and how now the hospital is willing to admit Covid- 19 patients for their treatment.

Beginning next week, our hospital will admit Coronavirus patients. This was according to Shifa Hospital of Dindigul. Lack of a physician was cited as the reason by a representative for not admitting the Covid-19 patients for treatment in the Thanjavur based Diocese of Thanjavur Our Lady of Health Hospital.
