All 15 GCC zones records negative fresh Coronavirus growth now

It was brought out by GCC data that all its 15 zones have now registered a negative growth rate for new Coronavirus infection. The overall average growth rate for the new Coronavirus cases in the last 7 days till Thursday has been minus5.2%. This was according to the data from the Chennai Corporation.

A method has been prescribed by Indian Council of Medical Research or ICMR and the new growth rate is calculated by using this method. It was later revealed by an officer belonging to GCC that negative growth rate meant decrease in the number of fresh Covid-19 positive cases.

Superb piece of information is Manali in north Chennai has performed superbly and it has got a growth rate of minus 13.3%. It has been mentioned that the worst affected zones of GCC such as Thiru- Vi- Ka Nagar and Royapuram zone have got lesser growth rate of fresh cases when compared with the Chennai city’s average.

Growth rate of minus 7.4% has been recorded in Royapuram zone and growth rate of minus 5.6 % has been from Thiru-Vi-ka Nagar. The scenario has changed totally even in the zones like Kodambakkam,Perungudi and Alandur. 

In the past, these zones recorded a positive growth rate of fresh cases. It is now revealed that the average growth rate for the Chennai city in the 7 day time period that ended on Thursday was better than the growth rate that was recorded in the same time period that ended on 6th July 2020 when the growth rate was at minus 2.4%.

Few days back, Chennai Corporation released data of the doubling time suggesting a slowed down infection rate of Coronavirus in Chennai city. The date showed that the Chennai city’s doubling time has improved to 25 days thereby proving the effectiveness of the lockdown.
