State Government of Tamil Nadu to launch a spiritual TV Channel

As a measure of additional relaxation during the current lockdown phase, even as small temples with annual revenue of less than Rs 10,000 outside the Greater Chennai Corporation limits were opened today after the lockdown, the Tamil Nadu government has announced the plans to launch a ‘Spiritual Television’ Channel.
All important events in most popular temples will be arranged to be telecast on this channel.
The channel is named ‘Thirukkovil’.
The Commissioner of HR & CE Phaninder Reddy has informed that the project of launching this new religious channel will cost Rs. 8.70 Crores.
The channel will telecast temple-related staff throughout the day.
As such, all the temple administrations have been requested to send the video records of all the major events performed in the respective temples and these may be used to fill up the various free time slots.
