Corona Rage: Important Statistics - Tamil Nadu

Though 100% lockdown imposition was declared to check and prevent the raging coronavirus in the Chennai District and 3 other neighboring districts where there was a consistent alarmingly large number of infections confirmed each passing day over the past few weeks, the latest reality is that THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPITE FROM THE SPREAD OF THE RAGING CORONAVIRUS AND THERE ARE ALARMING SPIKES IN THE NUMBER OF BOTH AFFECTED CASES AND DEATHS - ESPECIALLY OVER THE LAST 12 DAYS WHEN 100% LOCKDOWN WAS IMPOSED!

Alarming Figures - Out of the total 82,275 cases of confirmed coronavirus infection, Chennai Metro City alone has 53,762 cases and 809 deaths!

Health Department figures

A record number of 11,10,402 samples were tested in 90 government and private labs, including 32,948 samples during the past 24 hours. While 82,275 samples of persons were tested positive, 10,28,127 samples of others tested negative.

As many as 1,443 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged after treatment Sunday alone and taking the number of recoveries to 45,537.

At present, 35,656 patients were undergoing treatment, including those in isolation and all of them were under active medical supervision. The recovery rate was estimated at 55.34 percent and the mortality rate was put at 1.31 percent.

Figures on deaths

Of the total 1,079 deaths, 809 were from Chennai, followed by Chengalpattu 80, Tiruvallur 61, Madurai 25, Kancheepuram 19, Villupuram 14, Tiruvannamalai 9, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli 6 each, Cuddalore and Virudhunagar 5 each, Tuticorin Tiruchirapalli and Vellore 4 each, Erode and Ranipet 3 each, Krishnagiri, Pudukottai, Salem, Sivagangai and Theni 2 each, Coimbatore, Kallakurichi, Kanyakumari, Namakkal, Thanjavur and Airport Quarantine 1 each.

District-wise reported cases

Next to Chennai, Chengalpattu district reported 5,051 cases, followed by Tiruvallur 3,524, Madurai 1,995, Kancheepuram 1,791, Tiruvannamalai 1,767, Vellore 1,095, Cuddalore 982, Tuticorin 866, Villupuram 814, Tirunelveli 744 and Ramnad 742. The rest of the Coronavirus positive cases were reported from other districts.
