If the reopening of the schools in Tamil Nadu goes beyond August month, then the TN government might be scrapping the quarterly examinations for the school students in this year. It is known that the TN government has been planning to truncate the syllabus for the school students if there was a delay in the reopening of the schools in TN.

In recent times, an 18 member high level committee of School Education authorities and academicians have been constituted to come up with a blueprint in connection to the lost academic session due to lockdown and measures that would be taken to make amends.

It was later mentioned by a senior officer belonging to the Directorate of School Education that as the reopening of the schools would be delayed, the high level committee has been in the process of omitting certain portions in the textbooks from the classes 1 to 12.

Usually, in the schools across TN, the quarterly examinations would take place in the month of September every year. The senior officer later spoke about how the committee members are expected to recommend to the government about the cancellation of quarterly examinations for this academic year.

Information collected was the committee members were also looking into the aspect of extending the academic year might to April next year so that the quarterly exams could be held even if the schools re-opened in September this year.

There has been some suggestion by the members that the schools must be instructed to work on Saturdays also to compensate for the lost time.
