TN medical experts find it difficult with changing Corona testing protocols due to these new symptoms

Changes in the Corona virus testing protocols are creating issues now. Earlier, the common symptoms of Corona virus infection were fever, dry cough, breathing difficulties etc. Testing protocols were based on these symptoms.
Now, loss in sense of smell and taste are the symptoms of Corona virus infection. These new symptoms have caused the TN medical experts to think differently. New testing strategies are needed now.
It must not be forgotten that after the above mentioned 3 common symptoms the Health Department officials have noted that influenza like illness or ILL were also present in many Corona virus patients. The sudden loss of smell or taste is now considered as more accurate parameters for Covid-19 infection.
As per Prabhdeep Kaur, deputy director of NIE, member of TN medical expert’s panel, it was clear that the check list needs to be expanded as fever has not been recognizable in the identification of suspected cases. Loss of smell or taste is more specific symptoms of Corona virus issue.
It must be taken into account that this was validated by Dr. Ramasubramaniam who is also a member of the committee. Point is many patients complain about the loss of smell or loss of taste these days more.
