Foot operated elevators to be present at Chennai metro stations

Chennai Metro would soon be installing foot operated elevators at the metro stations for the sake of controlling the spread of Corona virus infection. Hand contact with the elevators buttons would be eliminated by means of foot operated elevators. In the administration building at Koyambedu, Chennai, a prototype has been installed.
An official belonging to CMRL expressed his thoughts about this foot operated elevators and said that this was done to make sure that the passengers do not touch the buttons with their hands. The buttons would be present few inches above the floor of the raised platform and it would be safe and convenient.
It is now revealed that CMRL has been studying various contact less measures for the sake of its passengers. Important piece of information is Thailand has installed foot operated lift mechanism in some malls so that the people would be able to use the lifts without actually touching buttons.
