The Central Government has announced that only after the impact/spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic is contained/controlled, the restrictions on flight services would be relaxed.

Presently, the lockdown has been imposed as a preventive measure against the spread of coronavirus throughout the country until 3rd May.

In this situation, some airline companies have announced that the flight services would be resumed from 4th May and tickets can be booked in advance.

Meanwhile, the central minister for aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri has informed that even if the lockdown condition is withdrawn from 3rd May, the resumption of flight services will be only after the coronavirus spread is completely checked and contained.

In this regard, he has tweeted on his twitter page:

“Only after ascertaining that there is a situation when there would not be any harm to the public, after eradicating the coronavirus thoroughly, the restrictions on airline services would be relaxed.

At this juncture, some airline companies have commenced advance booking for flight services from 3rd May. We have already emphasized these private airline companies to stop advance bookings.

The central government would clarify the private airlines in advance regarding the resumption of flight services. Sufficient time would be given for advance booking.“

Further, the public has put up complaints that some airline companies have still not refunded the ticket fares for the canceled tickets due to the lockdown situation.

It may be noted that flight services have been presently allowed only to carry cargo services for both domestic and international sectors.
