On Sunday, 9th February 2019, Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam was crowded.

In this place, Rotary International District 3232 held their annual conference named Rotary District Conference 2020. The event saw the presence of around 2000 members from Chennai along with their families.

Rotary district governor, Mr. G. Chandramohan expressed his thoughts and he was cheered by fellow rotarians. He explained about how the rotary was dedicated to serve the community and how it was looking out ways to help poor and needy. He expressed his delight in reaching out and treating those who are visually impaired with the help of Dr. Mohan Rajan and others in this year.

The prestigious Netra Seva Ratna award was given to Dr. Mohan Rajan, an ophthalmologist and chairman of Rajan Eye Care Hospitals. This award was given by Rotary District 3232. He was felicitated with a shawl and a plaque by Dr. Chandramohan.

It is important to mention that there are over 8 million people in India (almost the population of Australia and New Zealand put together) who suffer from visual impairment or blindness.

As many as 25000 cataract surgeries were conducted by the team by the end of the first year of Rajan Eye Bank Initiative. While addressing the Rotary Conference, Dr. Chandramohan hinted that India has been the most efficient than other nations in eye care.

To provide eye care facilities at the door step, in India, both government as well as non-governmental organisations associate together. With the support from Rotary Club District 3232, Rajan Eye Bank was set up to help many.
