A senior administrative in a private airline shared that due to the current severe recession period, the demand for flight tickets has come down drastically and so, the airlines have reduced the flight fares within the country.

For the occasion of Deepavali, attractive substantial discounts are given on the flight fare!

Usually, the trend is to increase the flight fares during the festive season as the demand would be more in the festive season. However, due to the current severe economic recession, this has been less demand for flight tickets.

Thus, the trend has reversed and super discounts on the flight fares are offered up to 44%.

Last year, the flight fare from Delhi to Chennai was Rs. 5571 has come down to Rs. 3071 this year.

Chennai to Delhi flight fare has come down from Rs. 5688 to Rs. 4328 and the Delhi-Pune flight fare from Rs. 5219 to Rs. 3631. Delhi-Hyderabad is down from Rs. 4750 to Rs. 4000.

During the month of April, the internal flight service which was -4% increased to 6% in June and then came down again in September to 1.18%.

However, the central minister for air transport, Hardeep Singh Puri, has informed that economic recession is not the reason for the lower demand for flight service and only due to competitive pressure, the airlines are reducing the flight fares.
