Benefits of walking in 8 shape

Ask any health practitioner for a health tip and he will suggest walking as the most recommended physical activity to practice on a day to day basis. This is considered of very high importance as it comes with a lot of physical and mental health benefits. However, a lot of us blame of our busy schedule to not go for walking. We instead try for heavy workouts or jogging or simply walking only during weekends, and a few people even skip that. Though this may be a form of compensation in our view, our body does not accept the same, and needs a better exercise workout for maintaining good health.

Generally we walk straight on roads or tracks, but the format of ‘8’ shaped walking is healthier too. Form the shape of ‘8’ by drawing two circles each of about 6 feet diameter. This should be in south-north direction. This can be drawn at the backyard or ground or terrace, car parking, road as per your convenience. In case you don’t have any of these spaces available, it is better that you draw out the shape right within your living space or simply arrange the shape using two chairs placed like 8.

Make it a habit to walk in the shape of ‘8’ both in the morning and evening when your stomach is empty. Preferably, walk at 5 am and 6pm.

Make clockwise walking movements along south-north directions for about fifteen minutes. Follow this my walking in anticlockwise movement for 15 more minutes. Do this kind of walking for 30 minutes on the whole. This timing can be later increased according to your comfort level.

It is further recommended that you walk in bare foot rather than wearing shoes. Have your concentration stuck to the shape 8 as you walk. While walking, you may keep breathing or chant OM mantra. Have Yoga mudra while walking as it gives additional benefits.

Benefits of walking in the shape of 8
When you practice walking along the south to north direction, your body tends to walk against the magnetic field of earth. This energizes the body and will stimulate the chakras along with each and every body organ.

Because of 8 shaped style of walking, each and every body part including ankles, knees, abdomen, hip, neck, shoulders, and head experience a movement. Compared to usual walking, there is increased movement and physical activity to these body parts.

Further, as you keep walking without any footwear like shoes or slippers, several points on the foot get activated because of getting in connection with the bare ground, thus stimulating your internal organs. These are directly linked with the internal organs of your body.

Furthermore, by walking in the shape of ‘8’, you will have your full focus on walking rather than listening to songs or chatting with friends or using the smartphone. Hence, this will assure proper breathing.

By practicing ‘8’ shaped walking regularly, you will experience huge relief out of  thyroid, digestion troubles, obesity problems, knee pain, weight gain, constipation, arthritis, etc. The eight shaped walking can balance your body’s blood pressure and also bring down blood sugar levels. It also helps in reversing diabetes and other complications associated.
