School Holidays declared due to heavy rain

A holiday has been declared today also (Thursday, 8th August) for the schools and colleges in the Taluks of Ooty, Koodalur, Pandhalur, and Kunda in Nilgiri District.
Due to the heavy downpour, the schools and colleges in the above 4 Taluks in Nilgiri district have been closed for the last 3 days! This order was released by the Nilgiri District collector Innocent Divya. Accordingly, the schools and colleges in Koodalur, Pandhalur, Kunda and Ooty Taluks did not function.
In this situation, with the inclement weather and the incessant heavy downpour of rains, Nilgiri district collector Innocent Divya has declared holiday for the schools and colleges in these areas for today as well!
A peak rainfall of 82 cm has been recorded in a single day in Avalanchi, Nilgiri district!
Meanwhile, due to the incessant heavy downpour, floods have occurred in the Mayaru leading to the traffic getting blocked in the Bhavanisagar Thengumarahada village.
With the flooding of Mayaru, the inflow of water to the Bhavanisagar dam has increased to 23261 cft per sec. Because of this, the Forest Department has issued warning to the public not to venture risky boat rides.
