The sensational information is in the month of August, in the Manali zone, Chennai citys first sold incinerator would be set up. Point is in zones such as Thiruvottiyur and Madhavaram etc also plants would be set up.

Mr. G. Prakash, corporation commissioner of Chennai, spoke about how the corporation has planned to set up atleast 2 incinerators in a zone. In future, the numbers might increase depending on the amount of waste generated. The superb piece of news is as of now 30 such plants are being planned.

To deal with the dry waste in Manali, a 10 tonne capacity plant would be set up and it would be tremendous. He added that the waste would be burned to produce pure carbon ash that is not harmful to the environment. It is said that pure carbon ash could be used to manufacture paver blocks, in brick mixing and to make other construction materials.

Information collected is the civic body is planning to set up atleast 3 such plants in 3 locations in the Madhavaram zone. An amount of Rs 70 lakhs would be required to set up a 10 tonne plant, 15 tonne plant would require Rs 90 lakhs and 20 tonne plant would require Rs 1 crore. A minimum area of 5000 sqft is sufficient for the plant.

It was mentioned by an official belonging to solid waste management department that tenders have been awarded and work orders have been issued. He spoke about how the plant would be ready by the end of August month and how it would be inaugurated. For sponsoring amount for more such plants, discussions have been going on with the NGOs, corporate and companies.

Important information is MAK group of companies would play an important role in setting up the plant. CEO of this group, Mr. T. Narayanaswami, spoke about how their pilot project was a 10 tonne plant in Erode in 2018 and how it was expended to 50 tonnes.

This green incineration technology does not involve any burning of fossil fuel and was founded by persons like Athapa Manickam, Saravanan Manickam and Raman Sivakumar. It is superb to mention here that Mr. Athapa Manickam had previously worked with Mr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and DRDO on several projects.

He explained about how by this technology waste could be burned at 900 degree Celsius and how harmful dioxins would be eliminated. Information is just water vapour and carbon remains at the end. In 1 hour, the plant could burn 1.25 tonnes of waste. Wet waste forms 55 % of the total 5500 tonnes of garbage waste generated in Chennai city in a day. This was as per the official belonging to the corporation.
