Central Railway Minister Reply on rail track linking Avadi - Sriperumbudhur - Guduvanchery

The central Railway Minister Piyush Goyal explained that a feasibility study will be undertaken to lay a linking track in the Chennai Metro City suburban sections Avadi-Sriperumpudhur-Guduvanchery.

Though there are roads available in the Chennai Metro City linking Avadi-Sriperumpudhur-Guduvanchery, there are no train connections.

However, large-scale industrial sector companies are operating in the above link section Avadi-Sriperumpudhur-Guduvanchery. So, as at present, the passengers proceeding from Chingleput to Avadi have to touch and go via Chennai only. There are no train tracks for Sriperumpudhur right now.

One of the prominent leaders in the DMK, and Sriperumpudhur constituency Member of Parliament, T. R. Balu, raised a question in the parliament regarding this. He suggested that if the train link is established in section Avadi-Sriperumpudhur-Guduvanchery, it will reduce the traffic congestion and the time for passengers in this segment.

The Central Railway Minister proceeded to reply to this question:
There are many remote areas in the country and train link is to be set up and established in these areas. A feasibility study will be taken up on the question raised by MP T. R. Balu.  If the feasibility study confirms it can be taken up, the project will be taken up and implemented.
