Chennai city to have scattered rains for another 2 days

Since the beginning of June the heat in Chennai has been unbearable. This piece of news would certainly provide huge happiness on the faces of many residents of Chennai who have been finding it difficult to cope up with the extreme heat.

The information that has come out is on Monday (24th June) and Tuesday (25th June) the scattered rainfall is expected to continue. This was as per the forecast made by the meteorological department.

It is known that on Sunday (23rd June) southern suburbs experienced rainfall of 11.1 mm whereas core places had trace of rain. Point to be taken into account is this rain had lowered the maximum temperature that was above 40 degree Celsius for many days to 36 degree Celsius now.

Popular weather blogger, Mr. Pradeep John mentioned that it rained very well in the northern suburbs of Chennai. He also hinted about how the clouds would enter Chennai via Pallavaram and Chromepet. It must be noted that live weather tracking sites showed cloud cover and rain over southern suburbs on Sunday night.

Important information is several parts of Chennai such as Saidapet, T. Nagar, Nanganallur, Meenambakkam received rain close to one hour on Sunday. On Sunday morning, Meenambakkam experienced light rains. The condition of the sky would be mostly cloudy and light rains would occur in some places. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 37 degrees and 28 degrees Celsius. High daytime temperatures have been responsible for triggering connective activity. As a result, rains would occur mostly in the afternoons and at night time.

It was later pointed out by an official belonging to the meteorological department that Chennai city has been receiving rains now because of many factors like convective action, upper air cyclonic circulation, low pressure in Bay of Bengal and effects of southwest monsoon. In the next 2 days, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Puducherry, Cuddalore in the northern part of TN would get rains. This was according to the forecast. Other places in TN such as Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Pudukottai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Nilgris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul and Thiruvannamalai would also receive rains.

On Saturday, 22nd June, many parts of Chennai city got good rains are known. Weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John posted about the rainfall experienced by various parts of Chennai till 8:30 am on Sunday morning. Information is Sholinganallur received 20 mm rainfall, Kelambakkam 17 mm rainfall, Tambaram 15 mm rainfall, Taramani 12 mm rainfall, Madhavaram 12 mm rainfall, Puzhal 10 mm rainfall, Redhills 10 mm, Kancheepuram 20mm and Tiruttani 14 mm rainfall.
